INSTRUCTORS
Glen & Alyona
Belonging to the original pioneering group of Beijing tangueros who began their tango journeys in the ancient capital, Glen (USA) & Alyona (Russia) share a combined thirteen years of experience between them. Having performed in nearly a dozen events, as well as dancing across Asia, Europe and both North & South America, this couple brings a large wealth of dance and musicality in both salon and stage tango.
Glen has made four pilgrimages to the mecca of tango, Buenos Aires (plus two prior stays during his university days for study in his major, Spanish Education), studying under all the top-name maestros, in both group and private classes. As a teacher by trade, he follows the maxim of 'a teacher never ceases being a student' ; he constitently pushes himself to improve in all facets of the dance, including the role of the woman / follower. Glen had the honor of performing and representing Beijing with Marina Kenny at the Shanghai Tango Festival.
Alyona is well-known to tangueros on every continent for her deep 'tango-connection' . In the autumn of 2011 she apprenticed full-time under the tango professional Marina Kenny, direct from Buenos Aires, and is always excited to share her knowledge and passion of tango
with students.
For this current season, Glen & Alyona lead the Beginner and Intermediate A courses at the
ShangDu SOHO studio and the Beginner/Improver course at the San Yuan Qiao studio (in
both English andChinese).
